As soon as I saw this fabric I just HAD to have it.
Full Price? Not a problem.
Weird Heavy Drill Fabric? Don't Care.
Probably not the best colours on me? Still don't care.

Seriously!!! TAPE MEASURES!!
I'm slowly learning that I in fact have a love of kitchy, novelty prints. Did you miss me?
It turns out I had a somewhat unplanned but probably needed break from blogging over the Christmas and New Year period. A combination of returning illness, taking on a new (full time) job plus the general busy-ness of the Summer time all combined to knock me for 6 and ended up with me seriously downsizing my creative projects for quite a few months.
So StaceyMadehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02970402384257513713noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-212552762322614532.post-37963110153684195292014-10-15T03:32:00.002-07:002014-10-15T03:37:55.486-07:00Wedding DressToday is our wedding anniversary - eight years together and three years since our wedding in 2011. *Warning: This is a picture heavy post (sorrynotsorry hehehe)*

Since I didn't even really know what blogging was back then obviously I didn't record the process of making my dress or any of the other home-made parts of our day. These two have been languishing half finished since July! It only took about 2 hours to finish them both off!!
First on the list - something easy (we'll work up to that coat that is half done...). After such success with my StaceyMadehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02970402384257513713noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-212552762322614532.post-35666086403099612522014-10-05T15:33:00.001-07:002014-10-05T15:37:43.594-07:00Diane Von Furstenburg Inspired Wrap DressHappy Long (sewing) Weekend!
Hope you all are enjoying this Monday off work - although the day has started off a bit grey and gloomy here, I'm hoping for a little sunshine later on!
I had a whole variety of plans for this weekend until I ended up sick from Thursday to about Saturday. Ugh, how unfair does it seem when there is a glorious weekend in front of you but you just feel rotten? StaceyMadehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02970402384257513713noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-212552762322614532.post-23364825073813661912014-09-27T18:02:00.002-07:002014-09-27T18:02:35.005-07:00New Sewing Room TourWhy is it that tasks that seem straight forward always end up huge marathons? I originally thought I could easily sort out and organise my somewhat chaotic sewing room in say, a couple of days. I was much more nervous about the prospect of painting my room on my own since I've never done that before and was convinced that it would take FOREVER! Turns out I was wrong on both counts...
But First! StaceyMadehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02970402384257513713noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-212552762322614532.post-11608506537736313842014-09-22T00:46:00.001-07:002014-09-22T00:46:25.825-07:00New Blog Feature!Heya!

A red hot Nettie DressSewing for myself has been on the back burner for the past few weeks. With one thing and another I suddenly found myself with a pile of orders to fill for StaceyMade :-O which is no bad thing but did mean I wanted to knuckle down a bit and get stuck in.
Fortunately one of those orders was for a new pattern - a Nettie Dress from Closet Case Files. If I've never used the pattern brand or StaceyMadehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02970402384257513713noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-212552762322614532.post-44084686014130421622014-08-09T00:58:00.001-07:002014-08-10T17:32:34.228-07:00Coatigan CopyThis was a project which reminded me why I sew for myself. Sometimes I think - I'd really rather just buy that, it'll be so much quicker/cheaper/easier/more instant gratification than making it.
But when I tried on this "coatigan" (half coat half cardigan) and saw the price at AU$140 I went "nope - I can make it!" and was extremely grateful to not have to commit to spending that money StaceyMadehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02970402384257513713noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-212552762322614532.post-56138013527691499312014-08-06T04:30:00.000-07:002014-08-06T18:00:29.570-07:00The Cuddliest Trousers - Thurlows the SecondAfter such a success with my first pair of Thurlows from Sewaholic I definitely wanted to make more of this fabulous pattern.
Slight Goober Face
I also wanted to try a newly discovered fabric spot at Ferriers Fashion Fabric in Adelaide. After being exposed to so many gorgeous fabric stores in Sydney and Melbourne I really wanted to look for smaller stores here in Adelaide that retail StaceyMadehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02970402384257513713noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-212552762322614532.post-18729095715312598462014-08-01T01:16:00.003-07:002014-08-01T01:16:27.757-07:00Bat Outta Hell Burda Batwing TopAfter my Me Made May adventures I discovered my wardrobe is lacking in comfy, warm winter gear and I've been thinking about how best to fill this gap. Leggings was the first step and now I've moved on to tops.
I've always had a liking for "dancer" style clothing (wrap cardies, circle skirts, ballerina tops and of course batwing or Flash dance style tops or t-shirts). WARNING: this blog post contains BOOBS. Yes they are there, no I won't apologise for them. *It's a corset for goodness sake.* You Have Been Warned.
This is a course I have been wanting to do for a long time. The WEA used to run a corsetry course waaaay back when and I always wanted to go and try it out, even before I started sewing "for real" as I call it.

Or do you just want a headless leggings shot?") just in case you were wondering. I seriously never thought there would ever be a day when I would admit that leggings are an acceptable form of leg wear!
This shows the fabric best - all those leg circles are paying off!!

I'm back after a bit of an internet hiatus as such - our trip on the Strzelecki and Birdsville tracks was a wonderful break from reality (and technology lol)!
First things first - no I am not pregnant! I'm sure at least one or more person(s) was assuming that so I'm gonna be upfront and say no, no babies here now ;-)
However, I do have a bit of an exciting announcement - I am StaceyMadehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02970402384257513713noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-212552762322614532.post-50952481958690217672014-06-10T17:43:00.002-07:002014-06-10T17:43:44.226-07:00Gifted Distractions: Quilting with ElephantsPhew!
After the conclusion of the Me Made May Madness I feel as though I have a pile of projects I just want to dive into but I have once again been distracted!
This time it's by a quilting project - not for me but as a little gift for a lovely collegue about to go on maternity leave. I should also mention I decided to make this quilt only 2 weeks before I wanted to giveStaceyMadehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02970402384257513713noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-212552762322614532.post-8348379521649058662014-06-01T04:46:00.002-07:002014-06-01T04:46:37.345-07:00Me Made May '14 - Day 24 to 30
Final week of Me Made May!! This month has shown me a lot and I'm amazed to say I made it through 30 days with only 4 items of Me-Made clothing re-worn.
Sunday, Day 24
Top: Tokito, thrifted from Balmain Markets
Leggins: Cotton On
Socks: Bonds
I did actually wear boots this day since it was our sewing day and yes that is the Fabric Folding Assistants foot photo StaceyMadehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02970402384257513713noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-212552762322614532.post-42382140603132979612014-05-31T00:36:00.000-07:002014-05-31T00:36:07.087-07:00Sunshine! Lollipops! And Rainbows! Pot-of-gold ThurlowsThis is one of those completely irrational projects. There were easier pant patterns available after all. And more sensible coloured fabric. But for some irrational reason I had to have golden yellow wool trousers. With welt pockets. And a fly front. It was time for my first Thurlows!
The role of fabric in Sydney that started it all!
I found this beautiful wool fabric in The Fabric Store StaceyMadehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02970402384257513713noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-212552762322614532.post-25126965399657661132014-05-23T18:51:00.002-07:002014-05-23T18:51:37.350-07:00Me Made May '14 - Day 17 to 23Aaand week 3 is here, only 1 more week to go!
Saturday, Day 17
Dress: Made by Me - pattern mash up of McCalls 6754 (bodice) and Vogue 8615 (skirt)
Yes - I literally didn't wear shoes most of the day :) This is my attempt at a skater dress - I preferred the vogue skirt length so I grafted it onto the McCalls top. And yes they are thigh high so that is allll boots in this pic ;-)This was the first day of thrifted clothes only, with no made by me items. I think I'll stick with this format for the rest of the month since it is a bit easier than doing daily updates.
So without further ado...

I always like to wear a beautiful coat to the ANZAC dawn service. I feel like ANZAC Day so frequently marks the "turn in the season" when we have to say goodbye to Summer and long hot days that I may as well try to welcome in the colder seasons in style and use it to help me get excited about being able to wear cuddly winter clothes (especially since I am never excited about the drop inStaceyMadehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02970402384257513713noreply@blogger.com0
